Another Mother's Hoverboard

on the wall

a life is not something to mess around with
she thinks
while her ability to respect common suffering
and collective fear knocks her into action.

alas!

the rain falls and we rant
the sun shines bright and hot and we gripe
the snow piles up and we groan

we are a the country of complain
and blame all around
and for as vain as we are,
obsessed with the mirror's reflection

it seems we forget to actually
look at ourselves in it,
deeply and with purpose
past the makeup and age:
to uncover our passion
our person.

are we kind?
are we really living?
are we done learning?
giving?
changing?

choose wisdom.

one shot

things like sudden death
and the perfect line in a song
can change your life
for the better
in the matter of
a moment;
how
splendid!

all of what one clings to
for perspective
tight and stingy
is suddenly released as
a million doves in the air
call to you...
and you suddenly follow
that proverbial dream

sure, when doubt
creeps in
another death or song
comes along
serving as a reminder
to just breathe
and believe
to give
and take
to smile
and laugh

marley will tell you
you must walk tall
even when you fall
you have to stand tall
you simply must.
